Authentic Car Care
Doyen Voss is a car detailing, paint protection and ceramic coating studio in Plympton, run by Mike Jennings and his partner Katy. What began with a fascination for what a polisher and a little compound could do to paintwork has grown into a studio that local dealerships trust with their cars.
We all love a clean car but for us, it’s like an obsession, an attention to detail and a mission all rolled in to one. At the end of every job, we make sure that customers are happy and the car is most definitely the star.
At Doyen Voss, we do what we do, because we love what we do.
Meet Mike
Mike has been in the motor trade since he was 14, when he spent his Saturdays fitting tyres. He left school at 16 to take an apprenticeship in motor mechanics and qualified as an NVQ Level 3 Vehicle Technician. After working at garages including Mumfords and Vospers, he opened his own garage in 2011 and ran it until 2019, when he sold his share to move into valeting and detailing full time.
That decision came from a simple obsession with the transformation possible when you combine the right technique with the right products. Years working under the bonnet gave Mike a deep understanding of how cars are built and finished, and detailing lets him focus on the part he loves most, bringing paintwork back to its best and protecting it for the long term.
Trained, tested and accredited
Mike’s work is backed by proper training rather than guesswork:
- NVQ Level 3 qualified Vehicle Technician
- Profilm paint protection film trained
- Titan Coatings accredited detailer
- Rupes Bigfoot trained for machine polishing and paint correction
- Member of the PVD (Pro Valeting and Detailing), which required passing a thorough written and practical assessment
Meet katy
Katy runs Doyen Voss day to day. A trained beautician, she spent nine years as an events coordinator at Boringdon Park Golf Club, managing the day to day running of the club and its events, so planning and organisation are second nature to her. She looks after the complete admin side of the business and brings the same eye for detail to the interiors of the cars we work on.
Mike and Katy met nine years ago and have built Doyen Voss together since taking on the unit four years ago, where they have grown the business into Plymouth’s number one choice for detailing.
A family business
Away from the studio, Mike and Katy are parents to their daughter Lola. Doyen Voss is a genuine family business, and that shows in how we treat every car that comes through the door. We do not process cars on a production line. Each one is treated as an individual project and detailed to the standard we would want for our own.
